Banco de Venezuela, founded in 1883, is an leading bank in Venezuela. In July 4 2019, Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro ordered Banco de Venezuela to accept its national cryptocurrency, the petro (petromoneda), which is backed by the its national oil and mineral reserves.

The Banco de Venezuela then consolidated its image as a refuge institution after the process of intervention and liquidation of Financial Institutions, a symbol of the trust that users place in the Banco de Venezuela thanks to a humanistic, effective and efficient financial management.
